Dear R.E. Teacher / Chaplain,

The countdown to the end of year begins & if your sixth years are graduating over the next week I hope their Graduation Mass/Ceremony is a joyous occasion. It can be a stressful time for R.E. departments & chaplains the collection of Graduation Resources on our website has hopefully been of some help.

My YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/DublinDioceseEd celebrates its first birthday on May 21st and over the year I have uploaded 26 slide show videos and created 42 playlists featuring compilations of over 500 videos. There are still a handful of schools where YouTube is blocked in their classrooms but many of you have spent time downloading videos and storing them of USB keys etc. Let me know of any good videos you have used with your R.E. classes & I will add them to the site.

EMBER LEADERSHIP TEAMS

Also this year I have sent over 40 R.E. News email bulletins like this one and back in early September (Sept 4th) I mentioned establishing a Pilot Meithéal Youth Leadership Programme. Since October I have been working with a fantastic group of teachers from three schools & also Ovoca Manor in Wicklow in putting together a pilot programme for the Dublin Archdiocese. I am pleased to announce that our first pilot programme will take place between May 13th-15th and the programme is called Ember.

The Ember Programme is a new faith leadership training programme for students at senior level in secondary schools. The students are trained to become mentors for incoming students at Junior Level and to be faith leaders in their schools. This pilot programme to establish Ember Leadership Teams will see fifty senior students from five schools participate in a three day residential training programme in Ovoca Manor in Wicklow. At the close of the training programme on Wednesday May 15th Bishop Eamonn Walsh will visit to commission the new Ember teams.  Click here for further details about Ember and please get in touch if you are interested in your school participating in Ember next year.

Year of Faith: I have added the May update from Veritas to our Year of Faith section and you can view it by clicking here.
