What is Ember?
The Ember Programme is a faith leadership training programme for students at senior level in secondary schools. The students are trained to become mentors for incoming students at Junior Level and to be faith leaders in their schools. This pilot programme with seven schools is coordinated by the Archdiocese of Dublin Education Secretariat and has been developed in partnership with the interdenominational Christian charity Scripture Union and with teachers from three schools in the Dublin Archdiocese. The first Ember Teams residential training took place in Ovoca Manor in Wicklow May 13 – 15, 2013, where five schools took part. The second group followed in a similar programme in Ovoca Manor from September 9 – 11, 2014. This time, seven schools took part.
