Dear R.E. Teacher / Chaplain,

Just a short note to wish you every blessing as the new school year begins. I would be grateful if you could let me know if you have changed school or if there have been any changes either in school management or in the R.E. department since last year. I would also appreciate it if at your R.E. subject department meetings you could look at agreeing a time which may suit for me to visit your R.E. department and also any areas where you would like support this year.

Our website www.education.dublindiocese.ie has been revamped and I’m still in the process of uploading resources etc. You will find lots of subject planning materials and resources in the Post-Primary Schools section and to save clogging up your email with large files, in future new resources will be available to download and view via our website.

The Second Reading from Sunday Mass two weeks ago struck me as being suitable for both teachers and students as the year starts:

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God who has marked you with his seal for you to be set free when the day comes. Never have grudges against others, or lose your temper, or raise your voice to anybody, or call each other names, or allow any sort of spitefulness. Be friends with one another, and kind, forgiving each other as readily as God forgave you in Christ.

Try, then, to imitate God, as children of his that he loves and follow Christ by loving as he loved you, giving himself up in our place as a fragrant offering and a sacrifice to God. Ephesians 4: 30-5:2

Kind regards,

 Gary
