Dear R.E. Teacher / Chaplain,

The horrific bombing of the Boston Marathon yesterday shows the worst side of humanity and raises the question of evil in the world. Kevin Cullen’s article in the Boston Globe is one of many depicting the devastating impact of the bombings. On the other hand the reaction of the first responders and the outpouring of support for the people of Boston reminds us of the goodness which prevails in our world. Of course it is important to note that sadly there were many other similar bombings and tragedies yesterday in other parts of the world but with Boston having so many strong links to Ireland it certainly feels close to home. I have added a short prayer service for the victims of the Boston bombings which you could also edit for use with a class group.
