It is always good to be surprised by an image of beauty that leads us to God. The Sacred Heart Oratory, Dun Laoghaire, is such a gem. It's beauty, as displayed through the artist's use of colour and design, has us stand in awe at the presence of God all around us. It was built in thanksgiving for the end of the first world war and to remember particularly the young men from around the area who were killed during the war. The Dominican sisters, through the contemplation of Sr Concepta Lynch, have certainly proclaimed the gift of peace within the walls of this sacred space, a peace that we might carry into all our communities.
It is worth a visit! And the book that has been published on its history is called "Divine Illumination".
